Annotation:This study examined high schools with significant low-income and minority populations that successfully prepared students to succeed in credit bearing, first-year college courses. Common components of these schools are identified, including: high-level, college oriented content, well-qualified teachers, flexible pedagogical styles, and tutorial support.
