Annotation:This handbook is designed for administrators and practioners to assist them with promoting student retention in college. The author begins by exploring the retention problem in the United States. Information is presented on the reasons students drop out of college and about the costs associated with these occurences. After establishing a framework for student retention, the author explores the individual components of that framework. The author provides information for responding to the issues related to each of these areas. Additionally, the author lists and describes the stages associated with implementing campus-wide retention programs.
