Title:Pre-K and Latinos: The foundation for America's future
Organization:Pre-K Now Research Series
Short Description:Hispanic children often start school less prepared than their white peers and rarely catch up during the primary grades. The achievement gap between Latino and non-Latino students actually begins before children even enter kindergarten and persists throughout the K-12 years.
Annotation:Hispanic children often start school less prepared than their white peers and rarely catch up during the primary grades. The achievement gap between Latino and non-Latino students actually begins before children even enter kindergarten and persists throughout the K-12 years. However, Hispanic families strongly value education, and a recent survey shows that 97 percent of Latino parents would enroll their child if high-quality pre-k were available in their communities.
