Annotation:This report uses data on statewide end-of-course tests in North Carolina to examine the relationship between teacher credentials and student achievement at the high school level. The researchers report finding evidence supporting the importance of teacher credentials to student achivement. The researchers also find that teacher credentials are distributed unevenly by student race and socioeconomic status.
