Short Description:Addresses remedial education in college, and examines ways to improve postsecondary prepartion in high school.
Annotation:Community college populations represent 44% of undergraduate students and 49% of first-time college students. Educational deficits in the increasingly low income and disadvantaged student populations at these colleges pose a vast problem, as just 24% of students enrolled in three or more remedial courses will persist through graduation. This article addresses the complexity of college remedial education and examines challenges and solutions to improving college preparation for underserved students.
