Title:College Access Challenge Grants: Including Adult Learners, Strengthening Student Success
Date:Fall 2010
Organization:The Working Poor Families Project
Short Description:Article points out that the Federal government has limitations in the tools it can use to increase students success and completion and that federal efforts to boost postsecondary attainment have been inadequate. Suggests the CACG Program is now the Feds primary initiative regarding access but asserts the program focuses primarly on access and largely overlooks student success measure and activities needed for increased completion. In addition CACG focuses on access for middle school and high school students and not for adult learners. Advocates use of CACG dollars and state funds to improve access for adult learners. 11 pages.
