Annotation:Released by the California Student Aid Commission and EdFund, this report documents the financial aid available and cost of college to students in California. Even after the sharp fee increases of the past few years, California’s public higher education institutions remain affordable compared to the national average, but students still struggle to pay costs that are 20-30% of the state’s median annual household income. To help students meet rising costs, policymakers have significantly increased financial aid, with about half of that aid coming in the form of loans.
