Title:Breaking barriers: A case study of two high performing high schools
Source:http://www.act.org/path/policy/pdf/breaking_bar...
Date:2006
Organization:Act, Inc
Short Description:This study identified two high schools, with substantial enrollments of low-income and racial/ethnic minority students, that have successfully made a commitment to bring about a change in the academic preparation of their students.
Annotation:This study identified two high schools that have made a commitment to bring about a change in the academic preparation of their students. These high schools have committed to prepare all of their students for success, whether they elect to enter college, workforce training programs, or the workforce upon graduating from high school. Both schools examined in this study have substantial enrollments of low-income and racial/ethnic minority students and, despite the odds, are successfully preparing students for their post–high school goals. Policies and practices are identified that appear to be contributing to the schools’ success.
