Title:A deficit of understanding: Confronting the funding crisis in higher education and the threat to low-income and minority access
Source:http://www.mdc.edu/president/Email/HACUDocument...
Date:Not Dated
Organization:Miami Dade College
Short Description:Examines the current financial crisis in higher education and the ramifications for low-income and minority students.
Annotation:This paper examines the current financial crisis in higher education. Increasing costs, declining purchasing power of Pell Grants, and the adoption of a more business-like approach in postsecondary institutions are resulting in decreased support services and remedial programs and in subsequent decreases in access and opportunity for disadvantaged and underrepresented students.
