Title:Mentoring high-school Latino students: Realism versus false hope
Source:http://lmri.ucsb.edu/events/98_conf/mejorado.htm
Date:Not dated
Organization:
Short Description:Hypothesizes that successful mentoring relationships among Latino high school students and Latino mentors increase when matched according to certain criteria.
Annotation:While the benefits of mentoring are widely heralded, some researchers have expressed concern over the relative lack of empirical research documenting the effects of mentoring, especially in academic areas and between English and Spanish speaking matches. This paper hypothesizes that successful mentoring relationships among Latino high school students and Latino mentors increase when matched according to criteria such as family background, socioeconomic status, and language.
