Title:Going to the source: A practical way to simplify the FAFSA
Organization:The Institute for College Access and Success (TICAS)
Short Description:This report recommends simplifying the FAFSA process, which is widely acknowledged as a barrier to college access for many students, by letting financial aid applicants ask the IRS to provide relevant income data directly to the Department of Education. This would reduce the length and complexity of the form that applicants need to fill out, reduce the possibility for errors, and cut down on the administrative burden of data verification that currently falls on colleges and universities.
