Title:The connection strategy: Preparing young people to succeed in college and beyond
Source:http://www.aecf.org/~/media/PublicationFiles/Co...
Date:2008
Organization:Annie E. Casey Foundation
Short Description:This report describes how some of the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s education grantees in Atlanta are working to mend the education pipeline for young people in their communities by connecting standards and expectations for learning from early childhood to college entry or the workforce and providing needed services, supports, and partnerships that add value to the work of schools.
Annotation:This report describes how some of the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s education grantees in Atlanta are working to mend the education pipeline for young people in their communities by connecting standards and expectations for learning from early childhood to college entry or the workforce and providing needed services, supports, and partnerships that add value to the work of schools. This connection strategy, known as P–16 —linking education strategies from preschool through college graduation— is gaining increasing attention across the country, primarily through changes in state policies. In local communities, there is also growing momentum to ensure continuity for children and families despite transitions from one school to another, and to hold high expectations that young people will go to college and be successful there.
