Mission and Objectives

Mission of the Association

NASSGAP is committed to promoting accessible and effective financial aid programs that empower students to achieve their educational aspirations and acquire the 21st century skills to support state workforce needs. Through collaboration, advocacy, and innovation, NASSGAP supports state agencies in delivering sustainable and impactful grant and aid initiatives, ensuring that higher education remains within reach for all individuals, regardless of financial circumstances. We strive to foster a community of shared knowledge, best practices, and policy leadership to advance the future of student success and educational opportunity.

Objectives of the Association

Consistent with NASSGAP’s mission, our objectives are:

1.To provide a forum for the development and exchange of information, ideas, policy positions, procedures and needs for student financial assistance for the benefit of member agencies and other organizations.

2.To establish and act as a collective voice of reasoned opinion before state, regional and national councils with respect to student financial aid, access, and/or completion programs whose objective is the furtherance of postsecondary education in the United States, including grants, scholarships, loans, college work-study, and other forms of government- sponsored assistance to students. To consider, debate, decide positions, make recommendations and otherwise act as an advising body on such matters as, in the judgment of the Association, shall serve the objectives of this association.

3.To collaborate and share best practices in the interest of effective implementation of various federal, state and institutional student financial assistance programs.

4.To conduct research, publish reports, hold conferences and otherwise engage in activities which:

  • Help existing programs to become more effective and responsive to federal, regional and state public policy goals and objectives;
